Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair

The Viscount Louis-Michel Liger-Belair founded this winery in the early 2000s with a few parcels of land left in the family's hands after a turbulent family history in the 1930s. Thanks to his extraordinary talent and excellent locations, today this winery is one of the absolute top wineries in Burgundy. The winery follows a tradition of more than 200 years established by its great-grandfather, Napoleon's general Louis Liger-Belair, who started producing wine in the village of Vosne-Romanée in 1815. Today, Louis-Michel and his family farm just under 9 hectares of exceptional vineyards in the Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Flagey Echezaux appellations, from which they masterfully produce unique wines that are among the absolute best each year.

Domaine & Maison Leroy

Unique, extraordinary and exceptional – these words could describe not only the wines, but especially the owner Lalou Bize-Leroy. Madame Lalou owns 23 hectares of vineyards, most of which are classified as Premier or Grand Cru. The domaine wines are a real gem, elegant, full-bodied, soft, structured and long-lived, but unfortunately, they are hard to find. For many people, Maison wines (so the wines made from purchased grapes, but vinified with the same care as wines made from their own grapes) are the perfect opportunity to taste Madame Leroy's winemaking mastery. All wines are produced as biodynamic.

Domaine Méo-Camuzet

For more than 400 years, the Meo family has been cultivating grapes and winemaking. However, it was Etienne Camuzet (1867-1946), a member of the French Parliament who, between 1902 and 1932, selected the best possible plots in the Cotes de Nuits, especially in the villages of Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. Today, the winery is run by Jean-Nicolas Méo, who learned winemaking from his father and, above all, from the legendary Henri Jayer. He farms around 7 hectares of vineyards and produces exceptional wines that are appreciated all over the world.

Domaine Jean Grivot

A winery that was founded at the end of the 19th century in the town of Vosne-Romanée. Over the years, thanks to a careful and prudent approach, it has become the owner of very famous parcels (Les Suchots, Clos de Vougeot, Echezeaux and Richebourg). Its meticulous work and the consequent quality of its wines have made it one of the top Burgundian wineries in recent years and should not be missing from any collection of Burgundy wines. All the wines offer very good value. The Village stands similar to the average winemakers. The Grand Cru and top 1er Cru wines from this domain are already relatively more expensive, but offer the best that can be bought from the appellation at all. Their Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot and Echezeaux are all regularly ranked by Burghound among the top three wines of each of these GC vineyards, very often even rated the absolute best.

Domaine Francois Lamarche

A first-class family winery founded in 1797, whose wines express themselves through terroir, not power. They currently work 28 hectares of vineyards, including monopoly ownership of the Grand Cru vineyard La Grand Rue - one of the pearls of the Vosne-Romanée appellation. They also own parts of the Grand Cru vineyards of Echezeaux, Grand Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot and many Premier Cru mainly in Vosne-Romanée, including Aux Malconsorts, but also part of Les Cras in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The sisters Nicole and Nathalie, who run the winery, have their work nicely divided, and thanks mainly to Nicole, who takes care of the vineyards and the winemaking, the star of the Lamarche name is constantly rising... All the vineyards are in biological regime, they use less new barrels than before (maximum of 50 % new, depending on the vintage), all this together gives a picture of the uniqueness and quality of their wines.
